A Teaching Unit Women in Holocaust Literature Materials from this book are reproduced with permission of Yad Vashem The Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Rememberance Authority, 2000 This
teaching unit on Holocaust Literature is from Yad Vashem. The program
deals with the manner in which women are presented in Holocaust Literature.
It is centered on a discussion of four works written by well-known authors
who survived the Holocaust. The discussion ascribes central importance
to the fact that the protagonists are women, and attempts to characterize
the uniquely feminine aspects of each work, and the relationship between
the women protagonists and the historical events. This unit is part
of a growing trend which seeks to investigate women in the Holocaust
and to understand the particular ways in which women coped with its
horrors. (click here for more details) Holocaust Literature a teaching unit Materials from this book are reproduced with permission of Yad Vashem The Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Rememberance Authority, 1999 This teaching

analysis of each work, and questions for study and discussion. (click

A
MOTHER'S SHOAH I found
my mother's diary letter among her belongings, upon her death in 1990.
Reading about her survival in Auschwitz and as a slave laborer in a
Nazi weapons plant made me cringe. One of the most foreboding images,
stuck in my mind forever, comes from her very first paragraph: Faces
of Courage: Children Who Resisted
by Sally M. Rogow, ED.D. (Updated September 9, 2002) Sally Rogow, Ed.D. wrote a series of short essays about teenagers who offered resistance against the Nazis. The essays are all based on historical facts. A lesson plan also is included. Dr. Rogow is a docent of the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre and is a special education teacher (e.g., education of students who are blind, visually impaired and/or multiply disabled).

photograph taken in 1943 Warsaw is a poem, "To the Little Polish Boy
Standing With His Arms Up," which the image inspired. Written by Holocaust

persecution of innocents and the indifference of "the world who said
nothing." Includes a French translation. 18" x 28". ©1994.
